MIMR Band Chat: Three From Above

Storming on to the blog’s radar recently have been the high energy garage rock trio Three From Above and MIMR has revelled in the magnetic sound that they produce, amongst many cool bands coming out of Liverpool at the moment.

We spoke to Lewis from the band about their energetic sound, live shows and favourite bands

MIMR: We welcome you to MIMR, who are Three From Above and what would you say are your main influences on your sound?

Lewis: Three From Above sound like The Hives/Muse/Royal Blood, with dashes of Bowie/Talking Heads and Art Brut.We like big riffs, cool rhythms and we like to sing and write about serious issues that effect everyone in the world today.

MIMR: After seeing a few of your live videos on youtube, your shows are very energetic and very fun, what’s your favourite thing about playing live?

Lewis: Playing live shows gives you the ability to really ‘connect’ with the audience. Thoughts and feelings expressed on stage can be felt by people at the show.

MIMR: What’s your favourite venue you’ve played as a band?

Lewis: That is a very difficult question to answer, one would have to say The Dublin Castle in Camden. However we have played some great shows in Jimmy’s and The Castle Hotel in Manchester.

MIMR: MIMR would love to see you in Manchester very soon, with both Liverpool and Manchester having a great musical heritage of course, which bands from each city would you choose past or present to be on the same bill as?

Lewis: Another difficult question, I guess playing a show with either The Buzzcocks or Magazine in Manchester would have been pretty cool. As for Liverpool, one could imagine going back in time and playing with China Crisis, Big in Japan or any of the early post-punk bands. Both cities produced incredible bands and they still produce quality do to this day.

MIMR: Thanks a lot for chatting to MIMR, how can people follow you on social media and listen to some music?

Lewis: Thanks for talking to us, you can find us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook. There some are videos on YouTube and some tracks on Spotify. Just search @threefromabove. We’re planning to release something exciting later this year, so stay tuned

Here’s the brilliant single ‘Magic Monday’:
