Another new band that MIMR has unearthed lately are Manchester indie rock quartet Big Society and their a band that you might a lot more of in the near future.

MIMR spoke to the band about their new single, future plans for the band and festival essentials.

MIMR: We welcome Big Society to MIMR, tell us all about the band and what are the main influences you draw upon?

BS: We are a four piece band (Will, Thom, Harry, Toddy), based in Manchester. We released our debut single ’17’ last year and have just released our sophomore ‘Marine Club Party’.
Musically speaking we’re influenced by it all, from Kendrick Lamar to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. More recently we’ve been influenced by our producer Pete Robertson who introduced us to a more elegant way of making records. We now spend a lot of time asking ourselves, “what would Pete do?”.

MIMR: Been listening to your new single a lot recently and it’s very addictive. What’s the track about and do you have any more releases planned for this year?

BS: Thanks! Marine Club Party is inspired by the Motorboat Club on the Leith Docks, an establishment frequented by a younger Will. It’s a hub of clunky teenage debauchery and botched attempts at romance.
There’ll definitely be more releases this year. Details are being finalised as we write this…

MIMR: Super cool to hear about some mega gigs you’ve got over the summer, what are you looking forward to the most about these shows?

BS: Just getting out there and spreading the word. However, Hyde Park is going to be pretty special.

MIMR: With festival season in full flow, which 3 items would it be hard not to have with you on a festival weekend?

BS: Alka Seltzers, Wet wipes and a total disregard for the weather.

MIMR: Thanks for chatting to MIMR, how can people follow you on social media and listen to your music?

BS: Follow us on Facebook and Instagram @thebigsocietyband and listen to us in all the usual places here:
