In the final feature ahead of this saturday’s Deco Promotions all dayer at The Peer Hat we chatted with The Starlight Magic Hour as they are prepare to hit the stage.
MIMR: Super to have you on the blog, how did the band come about and was it clear from early on what direction your music would lead into?
TSMH: I honestly don’t think it was ever contrived. There were lots of different points I could consider the start of the group. It began as home recordings and then we had to contend with a revolving door of members. The people we have in now finally feel right but we haven’t had the chance to all write together in this unit until recently. Everyone in the group has their own individual tastes so it’ll be interesting to see what happens when we do.
MIMR: What plans do you have for this year?
TSMH: We have a vinyl coming out this month, we’ll be announcing more about that early next week. After that we want to enjoy the next shows we have booked and then take a break from playing regularly for a few months so we can get the album done. Once that’s ready, our attention will be fully focused on playing as many shows as possible and taking the show to the next level.
MIMR: What’s been your most memorable gig so far as a band?
TSMH: Probably a show we did in Blackpool but I’m probably not allowed to say why.
MIMR: Thanks for being on the blog, look forward to seeing you at Deco gig on Saturday, what’s your best thing about playing live?
TSMH: Packing up and packing down
