We spoke to Matt ahead of his appearance at M20 to talk about his year and what to expect on 6th October
MIMR: Its with great pleasure we have Matt on MIMR, what have you been up to this year so far?
Matt: I’ve been working on new material for most of this year. Two singles are planned for release in the coming months and an ep will arrive after Christmas. I’ve been playing gigs all over Manchester and beyond and hope to keep the momentum going into the new year.
MIMR: What is the earliest musical memory?
Matt: Listening to my mum’s Dire Straits collection. First instrument I ever played was an old piano at a relatives house when I was about 3 or 4. I needed up taking up the piano a few years later.
MIMR: We’re really excited that your playing M20 Festival, what can we expect from one of your live performances?
Matt: Sweat. A lot of sweat.
MIMR: If you could claim to have written one song, which one would it be and why?
Matt: ‘Right in Two’ by Tool. Cause it’s the best song ever.
MIMR: Great to have you on the blog, we look forward to seeing you at M20 Fest, what Manchester bands do you admire?
Matt: I have always been a huge fan of Oasis as I was growing up right at the time they were smashing it. Recently I tend to listen to more unsigned bands and with the quality that’s out there right now there’s too many to mention. Manchester has the best talent. It’s a pleasure and I look forward to seeing you all at the gig.
