MIMR latest Band Chat is with a very exciting new act hitting the Manchester music scene over the summer, the blistering Summerhouse
MIMR spoke to the band about their music, their EP and their fave bands!
MIMR: Its great to have another brilliant new Manchester band on MIMR, welcome Summerhouse. Who are Summerhouse and what influences do you have on your music?
Summerhouse: Hey, thanks for having us! Summerhouse is a four piece alternative rock band from Manchester UK. We take influences from the likes of Title Fight, Mineral, The Cure. Anything reverby, noisey and jangly!
MIMR: Your self titled EP is pretty damm good btw, how was this produced? and what is the album all about?
Summerhouse: Thanks very much! Mark Winterburn at Edge Recording Studios produced the EP. Edge is an amazing studio and space in Alderly Edge, Cheshire – we had a really great time recording there. The EP was recorded over two days during winter, so a pretty chilly one but it was actually pretty nice working in colder conditions. It meant we didn’t work up as much of a sweat as normal. The EP is about a range of things. From a lyrical standpoint, it focuses mostly on dealing with certain things that happen that are completely out of your power and over coming them – as well as touching on themes or reoccurring night terrors, which sort of ties the whole thing together.
MIMR: Looking forward to seeing you play live very soon, what can we expect from one of your live shows?
Summerhouse: We’ll hopefully see you at a show! Our next one coming up is on June 24th at Fallow Café supporting Young Romance, which is going to be killer. You can expect a pretty loud one from us, and maybe not a lot of talking – we aren’t too great at that.
MIMR: What kind of music are you guys listening to at the moment? Are they’re any bands you would like to give a shout out to?
Summerhouse: We’re all listening to stuff right across the spectrum at the moment; Pinegrove, Nothing, Wander, God’s Hate, Envy, Deftones, Tame Impala, Domo Genesis, Parquet Chords, Alex G – to name but a few! We’d like to give a shout out to Autumn Diet Plans and Plastic, go check those guys out, they’re both absolutely killing it at the moment!
MIMR: Thanks for being on MIMR, very much looking forward to featuring you guys on the blog this year, how can we keep informed about your movements on social media?
Summerhouse: Thank you for having us at MIMR! If you dig our stuff hit us up on https://uksummerhouse.bandcamp.com
