Acoustic singer/songwriter Isabella Crowther is the next act up on MIMR Focus Wales 2016 interviews, its only a week away now.
Isabella spoke to us about her music and how much she is looking forward to the next few months
MIMR: Welcome Isabella Crowther to the blog, how’s it going? What plans do you have for your music this year?
Isabella: Thank you for having me. Things are going great. This year I plan to release my EP, continue to develop as an artist and play the festivals I am playing up and down the UK this summer.
MIMR: Take us back to the beginning, When did you 1st pick up a guitar and what influences do you have on your songwriting?
Isabella: I started playing guitar when I was 15 but I have been singing since I was very young. I am influenced by a broad range of songwriters and musicians. I will just reel off some names for you. Joni Mitchell, John Martyn, Corrine Bailey Ray, Amy Winehouse, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Bjork a very wide range. I was predominantly influenced by Joni Mitchell in my younger years. However as I start to move away from the folky singer songwriter style, I am hugely influenced by artists like Erykah Badu. I am also influenced by my friends and peers around me who are creating new and interesting music.
MIMR: Focus Wales is just round the corner, how much are you looking forward to it? and what can we expect from your show?
Isabella: I am travelling up from London this year to play Focus. It will be nice to be in my home town for a weekend. Why would I tell you what to expect? That would be taking away any mystery or surprise. I promise you will have a great time though!
MIMR: Whats been your favourite gig venue you’ve played at?
Isabella: The O2 Institute in Birmingham is a great venue and gig. I was supporting my good friend Matt Sheehan.
MIMR: Thanks Isabella, look forward to seeing you at Focus Wales, where can we follow you on social media?
