Release Date: 29th January
After impressing MIMR throughout 2015 with a ever-growing following and the release of the eye-catching single ‘Payday Playboys’ which was featured on MIMR Playlist, The Mantells now are ready to unleash their talents in 2016 with their 2nd EP ‘Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop’. The follow up to 2014’s ‘How To Say it’ EP brings them into a different league and will be make them one of the guitar bands to get behind in 2016.
EP opener ‘Stop To Think’ starts proceedings with a retro-guitar feel with confident vocals and simple grooves laid out in a very well thought out way which makes it very easy to listen to and enjoy. Human Touch is next up and dives straight in with infectious riffs and a uplifting chorus which shows off the maturity the trio and their music now posess.
Sunshine is a delightful track, stripped back vibes with glistening melodies and another example of how well thought out and constructed each song is on the EP. The finale to the EP is the fantastic Such A Shame which quickly reveals a more uptempo side, a classic indie sound with precise, stand-out basslines and toe-tapping beats.
So what have we learnt from The Mantells new EP, well its certainly a mature and bold set of songs which capture your attention and prove that their talents to make very good guitar songs will serve them well in the future. Amongst so many talented guitar bands in Manchester The Mantells can certainly hit the heights with the best, this EP should be the start of some very big things!
Here’s the event to coincide with their release date of their new EP on the 29th Jan, watch out for a interview with the guys coming very soon, as well as more on the blog nearer to the EP release date.
