In the 1st of many Band Chats with some of the many fantastic acts playing this year’s ACP Festival, MIMR spoke to Joe aka TVAM about the festival, certainly get down to his set at Gullivers, 15.00 on Sunday
MIMR: Always great to have new music on MIMR, welcome TVAM. How did TVAM come about and what influences do you have on your music?
Joe: I wanted to do something which would hold my attention and be a way to use music and video together. Musically, there’s a lot of Thee Oh Sees, Man or Astro-man, Boards of Canada, etc. Big Black, Suicide, Adam Curtis are there in other ways.
MIMR: It looks like its been a busy year for you, whats been the highlights of 2015 so far
Joe: Having the nice guys at Blak Hand and Static Caravan help me put something out and then hearing it get played on BBC 6 Music.
MIMR: ACP Festival is in its 5th year, how does it feel to be chosen for such a big city festival?
Joe: It’s great to play this kind of festival. I think the organisers impressed me when they spoke about the ethics of the festival rather than saying they’d got X band to play.
MIMR: Whats your favourite gig venue in Manchester?
Joe: I’m a big fan of Islington Mill.
MIMR: Thanks Joe for talking to us, we wish you well at the festival. Do you have any other bands on the line up that you recommend to check out?
Joe: Definitely see The Hipshakes. For people who like fun.
