MIMR has not done a Venue review for a while so what better way to return to this feature than to talk about one of my fave venues Gullivers which was 3rd in my recent Top Ten of Gig venues of Manchester countdown
Gullivers, Manchester
Gullivers is situated on Oldham street and is a integral part of the trendy northern quarter area. Recently refurbished to a excellent finish Gullivers has been transformed into a fantastic place to get your fix of music as well as remaining as a more than inviting watering hole
Sharing the same ethos as The Castle across the street (being part of the same company) this venue has become a important place to check out a lot of new music for a number of different genres. Been there a few times now for live shows and the upstairs music hall has a elegance and instant quality about it: red curtains, chandeliers and a huge space to enjoy your favourite act. Chuck in a very good selection of ales (Manchester Pale being a personal favourite) and a excellent jukebox to boot, Gullivers has not only jumped to the forefront of the Manchester music scene but has also achieved a reputation as being the place to be for all occasions, it’s a proper pub and we like it that way!
Here are some shows that MIMR recommends and the funny thing is that they are a day after each other too
Krill 23rd Feb
H Hawkline 24th Feb
The Voyeurs 25th Feb
